Amongst the protests of antiwar and economic uncertainty growing stronger with no end in site, I would like draw attention to artwork from the 1960’s that has made an impact on my life. Remember the day glow posters and black lights? Remember the rock art from The Fillmore play bills we all saved? Remember the image from Hair the American Tribal Love Rock Musical? All these and more will always hang in my mind as remembrance of a time of innocence. Drugs, Sex and Rock and Roll were a part of most of the baby boomers lives when we were not afraid to get stoned and attend an antiwar peace protest. I will always remember protesting the Vietnam War in NYC and a blurry instance of running over the rocks and hills in Central Park when we were chased by police at a Schaefer Music Festival Concert in Central Park. We can all relive the experiences of going to Led Zeppelin, Edgar Winter, Johnny Winter, Black Sabbath, and Grand Funk Rail Road concerts…what a time we had….Quaaludes, Benzedrine, Tuinals, Seconals. Boones Farm anyone? Though the majority of of us are all clean and sober now…it is still fun to reminisce those great days.
The memories I have of the Hippie movement are resonating more today than ever with the revival of Hair the American Tribal Love Rock Musical free concert at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater. The message is resonating more strongly with the youth and young adults of the world today than perhaps ever before. When asked recently about the resonance and resurgence of this iconic symbol on today’s young adults, the plays legendary producer, Michael Butler, answered emphatically, “It isn’t coming back, it never left, Hair’s message is more relevant today than its ever been. Over 11 million people have seen the play, an estimated quarter of a billion have heard the music. It’s in dozens of productions around the world as we speak. In fact, a third of all American actors have had some association with Hair. Its been a force for good for almost four decades.”

The Age of Aquarius times of running around as free as a bird was a time in history when we lived in the moment without a worry in the world. Hair, the first ever rock opera, opened in 1968 and all of us would travel into the city form Long Island and New Jersey to participate in this communal offering giving us an insight into the decade of the flower children which we were all very much a part of. It shocked audiences for its lyrics and subject matter, as well as onstage nudity. The original script contains a nude scene, but it is not essential to the plot and individual productions may or may not choose to include it. The original script also contains some racist language which again, may be edited on today’s stage.

As reported recently in “USA Today” the New York based trend forecasting think tank, The Trends Research Institute, found something unique in American history, a new generation looking back in time for inspiration… specifically, the 1960’s.

“Hair” grew out of a new downtown ethos embraced by the radical – and charismatic – Joseph Papp, who in the mid-’60s was adding the Public Theater to his New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park. After a brief run at a nightclub called Cheetah, the show was picked up by Michael Butler, heir to a Chicago paper fortune. He had it restaged by Tom O’Horgan, and readied for Broadway in 1968.

“As I look through my old posters, play bills, and concert flyers I’ve collected through the years I have such fond memories of growing up in the 60’s. As a young girl living in Southern California life was quite enjoyable. Saving my allowance to buy the latest albums, going to concerts…it was all so exciting. One of my most happy memories is seeing the touring production of the musical Hair…and I still have the play booklet. Over the past few years I have been collecting Hair posters from all over the world, in different languages from different Tribes! There are many great 60’s pop artists; I love Andy Warhol, John Van Hamersveld, Roy Lichtenstein, and Bob Massy. There is something really special about the work that Russoli and Rodriquez created for Hair. They were experimenting the aura technique in photography. When approached by Producer Michael Butler with the idea to create the marketing for the new play, he introduced them to Steve Curry, one of the original actors in the soon to open Broadway production of Hair. The play opened on April 29th at The Biltmore Theater in NYC and sold out every night and ran for 1,750 performances. I was 16 years old at West Hempstead High School when my girlfriend’s mom took us into Manhattan to see the show.

Forty years later, I love the art hanging on my wall. Frame and hang and enjoy as art takes you through the memories and the journey of our lives.

There is a possibility of changing the look of the ear as well. Depending on the facelift technique used, the ear may be pulled forward or down, though this is rather unlikely. At times, even with the best of procedures and technical operations, there is a chance of scarring which creates an earlobe which is attached to the side of the face, referred to as a pixie ear. This can be easily repaired with an additional procedure after the original facelift has healed.

As mentioned, it is very important to discuss the risks and benefits of any procedure with your surgeon before you proceed with that procedure. I want satisfaction for the crimes committed against the system I established as truth. I want to throw stones at those who represent me and who I believed were working for me. I want them to suffer for my choices and that will make it all right.

As Mohammad said:

All actions are judge by the motive prompting them.

Judging is what I do best when I see how easy it is for some to ignore ethics and morality for the sake of riches. I forget that I am the one who put the system in place in one way or another. I am the one who bought into the quest for material gain and physical comfort. I did have a choice to do things differently, but the call of riches has a deep voice and a strong arm. I find my self lost in the sea of depression and my boat is filled with holes and I’m sinking in my own guilt.

The lesson in all of this is first: I need to be aware of my choices and how I perceive reality. Second: I need to address every situation by doing no harm to anyone or anything. And Third I need to forgive; my self and then all those who took part in the unethical acts.

Martin Luther King said:

The nonviolent approach does not immediately change the heart of the oppressor. It first does something to the hearts and souls of those committed to it. It gives them a new self-respect; it calls up resources and strength and courage that they did not know they had. Finally, it reaches the opponent and so stirs his conscience that reconciliation becomes a reality.

Kings message of nonviolence is a core belief that exists within every individual. That is my first choice. All I need to do is remember it and practice it.

The commitment to do no harm is expressed in the words of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj:

Harmlessness is a most powerful form of yoga and will take you speedily to your goal. That is what I call… the Natural Yoga. It is the art of living in peace and harmony, in friendliness and love.

Yoga means unity. It is practiced to unite my body, mind and inner consciousness. When I am in sync within my self I am a form of Natural yoga and express it all my actions.

The act of forgiveness is made clear in the words of Jesus:

Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye,
But do not notice the log in your own eye?
Or how can you say to your neighbor,
Let me take the speck out of your eye,
While the log is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye,
And then you will see clearly
To take the spec out of your neighbor’s eye.

So there it is. The answers have been with me for centuries all I need to do to experience ethics and morality is to practice them my self. When I remember the words of Buddha I begin to change my world:

Speak and act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
As your shadow, unshakable…
Set your heart on doing good.
Do it over and over again,
And you will be filled with joy.

It was always believed that no eyewear could be made without the use of hinges and screws. Also it was believed that no eyewear could weigh amazingly, awesomely, unbelievingly…1.8 grams ONLY.

But the introduction of Titan Minimal Art Eyewear, in the last decade, a brainchild of designer Gerhard Fuchs and Silhouette Eyewear, eliminated all these notions.

Gerhard Fuchs started his research in the starting of the last decade. He wanted to reduce or eliminate the use of hinges and screws in the frames. Surely, a drastic reduction in the weight was on the mind. As a result, he, alongwith his research team, came up with the first design of Minimal Art Collection in 1992.

The temples were of course hingeless, however, the lenses were connected with a bridge. He had used copper alloy for this highly weightless eyewear.

But the invention of Gerhard Fuchs soon received a serious jolt when the consumers complained about the frequent occurrence of material-related problems. Despite taking it as a setback, the designer started searching for another potential options.

Much to the amazement, they discovered a very unique and super-elastic alloy of titanium in Japan. This discovery led to the end of material related problem, and opened the doors of a newly revised, comparatively lighter, corrosion free and durable eyewear.

Thus, in 1997, the company launched its first titanium frame series. They called it Titan Next Generation Series. It was available in “hinged temples” model.

Then, in 1999, the existing model gave way to the first screwless, hingeless and highly awaited titanium frame series weighing only 1.8 grams. The collection was named as The Titan Minimal Art.

This new “weightless” phenomenon was taken by the enthusiasts with both arms stretched wide and forward. So far the company has sold around 5 million units of Titan Minimal Art Glasses. Its collection has a range of more than 50 colors and shapes.

These eyewear. and sunglasses got a variation of takers. Many of them are Hollywood celebrities and even NASA astronauts.

Hence, it is quite clear that how this “lightest” range of glasses has made our perception changed we had about eyewear fashion. Definitely, it has set a new standard and benchmark in the field of eyewear innovations.
