Let’s face it, there will always be someone that will say negative things about you behind your back. It’s human nature and something that simply can’t be avoided.

I often think to myself in the middle of the conversation, “wow, if that poor
girl only knew what’s really going on”. See you have to take it from a guy’s
perspective. The truth is I hear things that most women will never hear simply
because I’m a guy.

The reason is because guys will often have an easier time letting loose and
sharing things with their guy friends about their significant other. They will
share things they would otherwise have a harder time communicating with their
mate.

It’s unfortunate, because of the lack of communication, some women are totally blinded to
what’s really going on behind the scenes in their relationship.

The best way to combat this is to keep an open line of communication with your
mate so he is not afraid to tell you what’s on his mind. If you always act
defensive or fail to keep an open mind in your relationship then your mate may
be more inclined to share important things about you with his friends instead
of with you.

Also you can’t live your life caring too much about what anybody thinks,

back. Matter of fact, the more successful you become the more negative comments
will come out of people’s mouths.

You also have to learn how to be insightful and aware about everything that

There are many signs of a cheating boyfriend, but the most common ones will be the little details. Your boyfriend will remember to cover most of his tracks, but the little things will eventually be overlooked. That’s how you can catch him in the act!

Your boyfriend will give quite a few subtle signs. His personality will change a bit. He might become defensive when you ask him where he’s been. He will tell you that you’re smothering him, that you are too clingy or too possessive.

Then, he will inform you that he’s going out with the boys…again.

Is he really going out with them? Or with someone else? Give him a call while he’s gone to make sure. If he tells you that you’re smothering him again, what’s new? You’ve already been accused of that!

Does he start visiting a tanning salon and paying much more attention to his appearance? Watch for new clothes in his closet, especially new underwear. One of the first things a man will do when he’s having an affair is buy new underwear for his lover’s enjoyment.

If he comes home with a tan but swears he’s been at work all day, then you might want to check into how many vacation days he has left. Has he been using them for afternoon rendezvous with his new lover?

When you suggest taking some time away, maybe going on a vacation for a week, he tenses up. No way, he says. We can’t do that! But when you press the issue, he admits he doesn’t have enough vacation time to go away.

Truth is, he doesn’t WANT to go away. He can’t take his lover with him if he’s with you!

It’s 08 – Are your packaged products ready for prime time? Here are a few insightful tips to help you out.

There are many packaging issues afloat in the minds of the consumer.
We just came off the traditional “wrap rage” cycle that stirs everyone into a frenzy around the holidays. Be aware that it’s still an issue to contend with in the minds of the consumer. Clamshells, twist ties and difficult to open packages still get mileage in the media.

Packaging has many detractors. We are getting serious scrutiny from everyone in the realm of environmental sustainability, less packaging, more environmentally friendly packaging, save the earth packaging and so on. Every week I read about a new packaging crusade that is supposed to solve our environmental woes. But I have been researching for an upcoming presentation Sustainable Packaging – From Green To Great. The lack of new packaging innovation to solve the problem is quite distressing. Most of what I am seeing revolves around the same supplier using the same packaging materials. Unfortunately, a lot of it is smoke and mirrors that touts “green” but does not back it up with true sustainable documentation. There are a few good examples of innovation. In researching environmentally friendly lipstick tube examples, the results were woefully inadequate. “Cargo Plant Love Biodegradable Lipstick” was the only company I discover (with a great marketing story I might add).

So, I pose these questions to all product packaging developers. How green are you? Do you want to be? Do your consumers and your target demographic even care whether you are green or not? This is going to be one of the prime time packaging issues in 08 so you better make some serious strides in deciding what you want your product packaging to reflect.

Another key matter will be product security, integrity and product origination. (AKA – The Made in China Syndrome) Currently the Made in China tag is becoming a political hot button. One of the trends I am starting to see is a China backlash. Products made and packaged in China are coming back to the US. Some companies are using China Free on their product packaging as a marketing tool — and it’s helping sales.

People are reading labels AND scrutinizing them. What it says on that label will influence whether they buy your product or not. I just read that cloned meat will be coming on the market in a few years. At present, the FDA won’t require food makers to label that their products came from cloned animals. ICK!! I’d want to know from the product packaging and, I believe, so would most consumers. The point being is that any high profile package or product will be looked at thoroughly by consumers. What you tell them better be the right message and true.

Watchdog groups about and they are on the lookout for your product to make a mistake. Whether they deem you are marketing to an inappropriate market (EX: Spykes marketing liquor to children) or that your packaging isn’t telling the whole truth (Ex: McDonald’s and all the other fast food companies and fat content), it’s sure to become newsworthy and in the worst case scenario could seriously impact your business.

Consumers are fickle. What is a hot issue today may be gone tomorrow. However, in the interim if you are not on target with the right packaging message you may alienate them or force them to buy a competitor’s product because your packaging is not sending the right packaging message.

So, before you embark on any new packaging campaign in 08 understand and incorporate into your product packaging what the consumer wants to know about the product. Be sure your packaging is ready for prime time to the right consumer with the right marketing message.

Lao-Tzu wrote those words over 2500 years ago. I certainly understand the message; all I need to do is read the headlines about the state of ethics that has developed in our financial and business sectors and realize that morality is lost in a world of rituals. The never-ending quest for power and wealth has eroded one society after another through the centuries, but it seems like the lesson within this experience, is a hard one to master for the human ego. The cycle of decay within the physical establishment of finance and politics is a reoccurring ritual of pain, suffering, anger and judgment.

The concern for well being is a surface one and as Lao-tzu explains that road is filled with nothing but blind faith in a system that has been tainted by truthlessness. When I realize the system is not real in terms of morality, the first emotion I experience is pain, then anger and then judgment. I want satisfaction for the crimes committed against the system I established as truth. I want to throw stones at those who represent me and who I believed were working for me. I want them to suffer for my choices and that will make it all right.

As Mohammad said:

All actions are judge by the motive prompting them.

Judging is what I do best when I see how easy it is for some to ignore ethics and morality for the sake of riches. I forget that I am the one who put the system in place in one way or another. I am the one who bought into the quest for material gain and physical comfort. I did have a choice to do things differently, but the call of riches has a deep voice and a strong arm. I find my self lost in the sea of depression and my boat is filled with holes and I’m sinking in my own guilt.

The lesson in all of this is first: I need to be aware of my choices and how I perceive reality. Second: I need to address every situation by doing no harm to anyone or anything. And Third I need to forgive; my self and then all those who took part in the unethical acts.

Martin Luther King said:

The nonviolent approach does not immediately change the heart of the oppressor. It first does something to the hearts and souls of those committed to it. It gives them a new self-respect; it calls up resources and strength and courage that they did not know they had. Finally, it reaches the opponent and so stirs his conscience that reconciliation becomes a reality.

Kings message of nonviolence is a core belief that exists within every individual. That is my first choice. All I need to do is remember it and practice it.

The commitment to do no harm is expressed in the words of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj:

Harmlessness is a most powerful form of yoga and will take you speedily to your goal. That is what I call… the Natural Yoga. It is the art of living in peace and harmony, in friendliness and love.

Yoga means unity. It is practiced to unite my body, mind and inner consciousness. When I am in sync within my self I am a form of Natural yoga and express it all my actions.

The act of forgiveness is made clear in the words of Jesus:

Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye,
But do not notice the log in your own eye?
Or how can you say to your neighbor,
Let me take the speck out of your eye,
While the log is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye,
And then you will see clearly
To take the spec out of your neighbor’s eye.

So there it is. The answers have been with me for centuries all I need to do to experience ethics and morality is to practice them my self. When I remember the words of Buddha I begin to change my world:

Speak and act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
As your shadow, unshakable…
Set your heart on doing good.
Do it over and over again,
And you will be filled with joy.
